Temporary Snow Removal Job Opportunity

NYCHA is recruiting temporary per diem snow removal workers to remove snow and ice at NYCHA properties throughout the city. Snow removal workers will be called, as needed, during the 2026 winter season. Wages are $19.33 per hour. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and able to perform heavy physical labor. To pre-register, report to 90 Church Street, 5th floor, in Manhattan, only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., to complete a Temporary Per Diem Snow Removal Worker Application. No appointment is needed. Please bring the following items with you to pre-register: a blue or black ink pen, valid photo identification, social security card, and federal I-9 documentation to verify eligibility to work in the United States (such as a U.S. passport, birth certificate, City ID, EBT card, U.S. Citizen ID card, Employment Authorization document issued by the Department of Homeland Security, or acceptable receipts). Pre-registration ends on Wednesday, February 25.

PHADA Scholarship Program  

In 2026, the Public Housing Authorities Directors Association’s (PHADA) Scholarship Program will award three scholarships to assist with costs for tuition, books, and activities directly related to education for graduating high school seniors who’ve demonstrated academic excellence and reside in public and assisted housing. Qualifying high school seniors must be preparing to enter higher level learning, defined as a two-to-four-year college, trade school or formal certification program, and must reside in a New York State PHADA member agency, such as NYCHA. Visit PHADA’s website for more information and to apply online. All application materials must be received by PHADA no later than January 23, 2026.

Green Industry Job Training for NYCHA Residents 

With Green City Force’s (GCF) Service Corps training program, New York City public housing residents ages 18-24 are connected to careers in the green economy after completing a six-month paid service term. GCF members serve NYCHA communities at their Eco-Hubs (farm sites), with participants gaining hands-on experience in urban agriculture, resident education, action campaigns, and much more. Participants acquire job readiness training and certifications such as OSHA 30, 10-hour Site Safety Training (SST), Roots of Success Pre-Apprenticeship, Green Professional Training, and an opportunity to obtain their driver’s license. The program also provides additional benefits such as a monthly stipend, unlimited MetroCard, and the AmeriCorps Segal Education Award upon training completion. Do you need help using the internet and technology? Neighborhood Tech Help offers free, easy-to-access, one-on-one tech support for New Yorkers to help them become more comfortable using tech devices, connecting to the internet, setting up online accounts, and improving their tech skills. Highly trained members of your community are eager to assist you with any tech issue on your phone, computer, or tablet while protecting your privacy. These free services are provided to New Yorkers through a collaboration between the Brooklyn, New York, and Queens Public Libraries and NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development. NYC Parks has begun recruiting lifeguards for 2026. Wages for lifeguards are $22 per hour. The NYC Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) application is now open! SYEP offers paid summer work experience for young people ages 14-24. Residents of Mayor’s Action Plan for Neighborhood Safety (MAP) developments receive reserved slots with select providers through the MAP to $uccess program. Residents of designated developments may also qualify for the SYEP NYCHA CareerFIRST program. Training for Young Adults 

Join St. Nicks Alliance on March 11 to learn about training opportunities in HVAC and building maintenance for young adults ages 18 to 24. Roundabout Theatre Company’s Fellowship Opportunities 

Are you interested in a creative opportunity? Join a virtual information session on March 11 at 4 p.m. with Roundabout Theatre to learn about their Theatrical Workforce Development Program. The 11-month, paid technical training program was developed in partnership with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees as a pathway to a backstage career for young adults between 18-24 years old in areas such as theatrical carpentry, audio, electrician, and wardrobe jobs. NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program is designed to help you master IT basics while gaining hands-on experience and earning valuable credentials. The 20-week fall program runs from August 5 to December 28, with four-hour classes held Monday through Friday. You’ll have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications, such as CompTIA A+ and IT Fundamentals+, a Google IT Support Certificate, and an IT Generalist Apprenticeship credential.
